Bird’s Nest Design was started by Robin Helms, a native of Monkton, Vermont. After graduating from Whitman College with a degree in biology, Robin spent several years working a variety of natural science jobs, including Marbled Murrelet surveys on the Oregon Coast, a ranch in the High Rockies in Colorado, and a season of native vegetation work at Grand Teton National park. After his second summer in Colorado he returned to Vermont, where he built an acoustic guitar in his father’s woodshop. That led to his first woodworking job crafting high-end Shoji doors in Bozeman, MT, a second guitar, and a career in woodworking.

Robin works out of his shop in the Sunnyland neighborhood of Bellingham, WA.
